The short-term disability plan is designed to protect your income if you are unable to work due to pregnancy or non-occupational illness or injury. There are different short-term disability benefits for salaried and hourly employees, although most steps related to claiming benefits are the same, as described in the sections that follow. Part-time employees are not eligible for short-term disability benefits. Full-time employees who are on a leave of absence without pay, including educational leave, personal leave, military leave, or family medical leave for bonding or to care for a family member with a serious health condition, are not eligible for short-term disability benefits.
